PSA: Trippe’s brand of droning-autotune shouldn’t immediately classify his tracks as – to borrow the phrase included in Apple Music’s description of the record – “emo rap,” especially considering the generic subjects touched upon in the lyrics. Reserve that genre label for the likes of XXXTentacion.
