A public service request for the IFC Center:

Can you please publicize online which of your five auditoriums a movie is playing in??

First off, I’m not hating; IFC is one of the city’s foremost cinemas, with programming that can’t be topped. The only reason I’m asking for a change is because I adore the theater.

Its only negative is the vast difference in size between auditoriums. Now, their differentiated capacity liberates the aforementioned programming to allow for nicher titles that could never fill bigger houses, so I’m not complaining about the existence of the smaller theaters here.

BUT, for size kings like yours truly, it would be blessing to be able to target showtimes in the larger auditoriums in advance.

As of now, the only way to do so is by calling the box office directly. Which is fine. But, like, they have other responsibilities, and I hate the idea of inconveniencing them in the middle of more important tasks, to the point where I will sometimes choose to see a movie elsewhere to avoid the hassle.

And at a moment when every ticket sale counts, IFC shouldn’t be leaving even a single cent on the table.

Which is why listing the auditorium number for every showtime online solves the issue. Basically every other theater in NYC does it, so why not IFC?

Why not, IFC?
