One Atlantic, An Ocean of Awards

Did the Atlantic Theater Company just pull off a first?

Has one theater ever won BOTH the Tony Award for Best Musical (Kimberly Akimbo) AND the Pulitzer for Drama (English)…IN THE SAME SEASON??

Oh, and another play the company produced this year (The Far Country) was one of the other two finalists for the 2023 Pulitzer.

The Atlantic also had its name on this season’s Tony-nominated play Between Riverside and Crazy, AND last season’s nominees Skeleton Crew AND Hangmen, all without a Broadway home to call its own (rectify!).

And lest you believe a fall must follow such a crest, the Atlantic’s currently staging a musical (Days of Wine and Roses) that would’ve swept the Tonys.

To top it all off, the company’s next season includes a world premiere (Infinite Life) from our greatest working playwright (Annie Baker), on the tail of their present world premiere (A Simulacrum) by another of our greatest playwrights (Lucas Hnath).

Not too shabby.
