May Play

Fair Play and May December are a “Classical Melodrama meets the Woke Discourse” Netflix double feature.

Both movies — Fair Play is available now, May December next month — start by wrestling with Zeitgeisty woke themes . . . before taking a fucking sledgehammer to them. They understand that Classical Melodrama was always the genre to explore and explode an era’s sex-gender orthodoxy (IMO, the genre operates by externalizing and then extremifying interior dynamics). Fair Play in particular finds, revels in, and then darkly upends the Classical Melodrama dimensions of 2023’s workplace-gender ideologies.

Fair Play / May December isn’t Netflix’s only upcoming double feature:

Or how about the hitman double feature of Hit Man and David Fincher’s The Killer?

A “jokey” one: The Killer and Bradley Cooper’s Maestro as directorial autobiographies.
