Ennio Morricone is having a New York moment.
At least in terms of dominating the city’s theatrical programming in early 2024, through a three-pronged approach:
Last month, MOMA wrapped a five-week retrospective of over 35 of the master composer’s movies.
IFC is currently in the middle of a two-week Dario Argento series, periodically scored by Morricone.
And Dario makes an appearance in Ennio, a 156-minute talking-head documentary focused entirely on the titular honcho, now playing at Film Forum.
Though not in NYC, Chicago’s Music Box brings a version of MOMA’s retrospective to the Windsy City, beginning March 21.
