AITA

Terrifier 3 pushes sadism to such an extreme that it made me wonder if I’m a sadist for even enjoying it.

The franchise is motored by the art of the profane for the profane’s sake,  the creativity in the carnage of imagining and executing the most unimaginable executions.

Yet each installment dedicates a substantial amount of their runtimes to unremarkable character drama. And when this rote and basic handling of the victims’ personal lives is put next to the anything-but-rote-and-basic kills, the audience might find themselves hoping for a return to the grotesque.

A wish that made me further question the ethics of what excites me in Terrifier 3, and why.
