A Sequel Kind of Documentary

A New Kind of Wilderness is basically a documentary sequel to Captain Fantastic.

What would it actually look like, in our nonfiction world, for a Captain Fantastic-esque family to acclimate themselves to a more social lifestyle?

A New Kind of Wilderness also cracks the cinéma-vérité code of the cameras becoming so embedded in the daily lives of the family that the documentary’s portraiture feels natural. What’s observed does not seem performed for the cameras, even if the cameras capture a truth whose existence cannot be untwined from the presence of the cameras.
