The Returns

Does anyone else miss when New York’s Signature Theatre would devote each season to producing multiple productions by the same playwright?

While there’s obvious benefit to spreading the love by commissioning different scribes over many years, this newer approach doesn’t allow audiences to mull a specific artist’s range of work within a condensed timespan.

Well, the Williamstown Theatre Festival is here to fill the void. Their upcoming summer is dedicated to Tennessee Williams…in a topsy-turvy sort of way. Jeremy O’Harris will premiere a new play in conversation with Williams, Robert O’Hara will revive a lesser-known work, and then there’ll be…Tennessee performed on an ice rink?! With more to be announced.
