What We Went Through

Here are my favorite movies — and one show! — that focus primarily on  depicting life during Covid:

  • An Unfinished Film
  • Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn
  • Suspended Time
  • Three Houses

Three of the four blur documentary and fiction, befitting how the Covid Age has demonstrated the difficulties — and perils — of using media to deduce what’s really happening out there.

This year’s Grand Theft Hamlet could qualify to be on the list, but Covid seems to serve more as the catalyst than the primary focus of this new movie. It treats Covid as a jumping-off point to explore evergreen themes of corporeal isolation and online communities during — and not during — quarantine.

In this respect, Grand Theft Hamlet is a companion piece with last year’s Ghostlight, a double feature about how the act of performing theater creates communities, be they in small towns or across the globe.
