Is This a Theater

Your average theater houses multiple rooms besides the actual house.

Exponential Festival’s Professional Development, Under the Radar’s Petra, the La Jolla Playhouse’s The Unfair Advantage, and Two River’s The Good Thief landed on the same response to this fact:

Use them!

All the world can be a stage, be they found in ornate lobby-adjacent spaces, rehearsal studios, or anodyne administrative conference centers — all of which add set-design milieu, even if they’re not tailored from the ground up for a specific production.

This unconventional intimacy opens up fresh programming possibilities, not to mention providing a behind-the-scenes glimpse of these institutions for us mere plebs.
