My name is critique, oh!
But I’m getting ahead of myself; let me explain with a PSA of my (h)own:
Is criticizing art the same as critiquing art?
They’re used interchangeably as synonyms . . . but not by this guy!
Their Oxford definitions:
Critiquing: to evaluate in a detailed and analytical way.
Criticizing: to indicate the faults of someone or something in a disapproving way.
AKA: criticism is heavier on the qualitative, lighter on analysis.
Which is why I refuse to refer to yours truly as a critic. Rather, when in a particularly pretentious mood, I insist on calling myself a critique.
Please do the same from here on out.
