Alice, Darling might not sit squarely in the genre, but the source of its horror is very du jour:

How living inside female psychology, traumatized by toxic masculinity, can mirror the hallmarks of a horror movie; no need to embellish for effect when your everyday life feels like a horror movie.

Think: gaslighting, stockholm syndrome, etc. 

Now you’ll notice this motif everywhere you look (on screen and off).
