Jenny Gage’s All This Panic is an invaluable DOCument (get it, because it’s a documentary?!) of modern teenage life, made all the more essential by how rarely Hollywood accurately depicts these pivotal years.
Documentaries that somehow balance unfettered access without forsaking reality – the aim of many fictional dramas – compensate for this paucity, though I always wonder how documentarians get so close to these lives without influencing them (and I wish they would more often address their own roles in the proceedings).
