Expectations — Bebe Rexha

A guilty pleasure that I don’t feel even a lick of guilt over how much pleasure it brings me. Then why even the suggestion of shame? The album contains nary a moment of pop novelty throughout, besides perhaps her intermittently heart-wrenching voice — which is Kesha-esque, albeit lacking her producing inventiveness and palpable personality — and the country-infused closer, which should inform whatever comes next for Bebe, a way to differentiate herself musically from the other hordes of wannabe chart-toppers. Nevertheless, I like what I like, and I’m not ashamed to admit it!

The epitome of country pop — the album’s first half is more country, the second half veers towards pop — except the voices are male instead of female.

Bad Witch — Nine Inch Nails

A bit too metal-ish for my tastes. For fellow fans of Trent Reznor’s (Nine Inch Nails is his musical pseudonym) film scores for David Fincher, the album’s worth a listen to fully appreciate his range; only one of its six tracks — “I’m Not From This World” —  bears significant resemblance to his cinematic compositions.
