In a year already rife with strong contenders that will hopefully vie for the Academy Awards’ annual Best Song trophy — including, in order of personal preference, Black Panther‘s “Opps”, Hearts Beat Loud‘s title track, and Forever My Girl‘s “Smoking and Crying” (each of which has been individually injected into my fucking veins over the last seven months) — Teen Titans Go! To the Movies’ “Upbeat Inspirational Song About Love” might be my favorite of them all. It’ll be a crime if it’s not nominated, not only because of its quality, but also: CAN YOU IMAGINE MICHAEL BOLTON SINGING THIS LIVE DURING THE CEREMONY?! I want to live in that world.
Roughly 38,507,309,583,143,170 songs in one, thanks to the off-the-wall producing. Drake’s clearly the runaway favorite to be 2018’s King of Veins-Shooting.
A lyrical boomerang, less a narrative and more a game of free word association. Oh, and, just for the record, KOD is by no means the “album of the year.”
