Three more songs to add to The List before we ring in September:
No one eviscerates like Nicki eviscerates, with a beat that can sustain her prowess for days. Very few can hang with her flowing, swaggy, lyrical braggadocio, but don’t sleep on her producing, an equally-integral component in her quest to live up to her new album’s title; if Kendrick’s the king of pure rapping, then Minaj is most likely the Queen, no matter the gender of the other contenders (most of whom are given their savage due here) (by the by, listen to the above video at 1.5 speed for the real version; a clever copyright workaround by Youtube uploaders).
Putting the Disco back in Disclosure (just go with it) (why didn’t the duo compile all five of their new singles onto an EP? Because there’s little musical cohesion between them, even though they’re all distinctly Disclosure; unified eclecticism, yay! Of the five, only this one feels more prepared for the airwaves than dance floors, thus its inclusion here).
An illogical WPM (Words Per Minute) (also, for those not following along at home, I believe the title refers to “The Return” of Logic, after his alter ego Bobby Tarantino took care of album duties for the year).
2018’s SHOOT IT STRAIGHT INTO MY FUCKING VEINS List
