Pressure stands as a testament to the fact that Jeezy still goes hard as fuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh.
I mean, yeah, the album’s sonically monotonous…but Jeezy’s sound is rather particular to him, and so of its era. Since so few others have successfully mooched it (an artistic rarity), I don’t mind taking a trip back down memory lane for 13 songs.
It’s particularly impressive that he manages to seamlessly merge various, uber-modern features with his throwback mood, retaining their distinct vibes without forsaking his own.
The album also contains one of the best rhymed lyrics of the year, which succinctly summarizes America’s 2017: “My President was black / Now my President is wack.”
