2017 Double Features

There are almost too many great movies in theaters right now; it’s hard to keep up!

As I watch them one right after the other, significant connections form between them that I think would be further illustrated if paired as double features.

Here are a few I’d like to experience back to back:

God’s Country and Call Me By Your Name portray forbidden relationships, the former in a roughly down-and-down style and the latter from a more glamorized perspective (both are equally true).

Call Me By Your Name and The Phantom Thread explore aesthetic sensuality.

The Phantom Thread and Wonder Wheel present modern riffs on performative melodrama.
