Album Roundup

Time for some TMI:

You’ll see some rather large absences in this week’s roundup, namely: THE CARTERS’ (AKA Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s) EVERYTHING IS LOVE, and Nas and Kanye’s NASIR, not to mention “smaller” — though still considerable fare — like 5 Seconds of Summer’s Youngblood and Christina Aguilera’s Liberation.

Blame my body.

A rather painful pimple sprouted in my ear, preventing me from using my in-ear headphones (I warned you that TMI time was coming)!

But never fear, kind reader: I’ve dug up an old pair of over-ears, so I’ll be back on my bullshit next week, hopefully catching up with what I missed over the last seven days.

So pardon the lack of information here; next week, I’ll once again be providing you with too much information of the musical kind, instead of this week’s bodily variety.

Let’s do it:

jay-rock-redemption

Redemption — Jay Rock

How to describe an album whose identity changes with every song? That’s the mark of an artist at the top of his game.

4275 — Jacquees

Sex Muzak. The conventionality doesn’t make this old-school R&B any less sexy. Nay, sensual!

Master the Day of Judgement 1

Master the Day of Judgement — YoungBoy Never Broke Again

Youngboy continues his Kodak Black-esque crooning phase…and I continue to be baffled why EVERY release by this prolific rapper continues to be so dang popular. Why do I keep listening? Besides remaining committed to my quest to listen to ALL the albums that crack Apple Music’s Top 30 Most Streamed chart, I’m also hoping that I’ll figure out his appeal one of these days. Whenever I’m the odd-man out regarding art, instead of judging the taste of the masses, I tend to just blame myself, and thus strive to expand my taste as much as possible. Unfortunately, today is not that aforementioned day.
